The Mirror
Mount carries the
mirror. Construction: Cut out from a
block 15cm by 7.5 cm (9mm thickness) three teeth, 2cm, 5cm and
2cm respectively; each is 1cm long as indicated above.
Note 1: Once we have connected
the XPS part to the mirror and we speak of mirror mount we tacitly assume containing the mirroras well.
Note 2: This construction uses a plain glass mirror tile from
DIY superstore. You can replace it with any reflecting surface put on a
rigid, square element which you think appropriate. It should be
reasonably plain that the reflected image is not distorted, though.
Connecting to the mirror
1 Put the mirror mount on the lower
half of the backside of the mirror
and mark the theeth line with a marker. Place the hinges into the
3cm spacings.
2 Fix the hinges with a
mirror-fixing-tape (one with glue on both sides). Put another line of
tape at the bottom of the mirror.
3 Pull off the glue protection
tape (here blue) and place the mirror mount on the backside the mirror.
The upper halves of the hinges remain visible. The mirror mount is
glued to the mirror.
4
Tuck staples into some XPS spare part for picking them out.
5 Take staples and fence off the borders of the mirror mount as indicated in the pictures.
6 Cut three pieces of XPS, one 15cm long, two 7.5cm, each 1.2 cm wide and 4mm thick as indicated.
7 Glue them on the other borders of the mirror mount covering (and fixing) the
staples. This prevents the mirror from slowly sliding off the mirror-fixing-tape.
